Erasmus+ Conference on education for students with special educational needs

On November 13 2024, the University of Bielsko-Biala hosted a conference summarizing the intellectual results of the project entitled Remember to Remember, 2021-1-CZ01-KA220-SCH-000032703, financed under the Erasmus+ program, which was opened by the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Robert Pysz, PhD.

The project team, consisting of prof. Ewa Kochanowska, Director of the Institute of Pedagogy, and Małgorzata Jopek-Bizoń, PhD, intellectual output coordinator from the Institute of Neophilology, presented the research tools for training prospective memory and metacognitive skills developed during the project in an international environment and national partnership. The comprehensive methodology was also discussed, followed by the phase of research into the practical verification of the metacognitive-training intervention.

An extremely important added value of the project conference on education and forms of support for students with special educational needs was the exchange of experiences among specialists in this field.

The lecture entitled: Supporting the development of children with special needs. The role of a supporting teacher was given by Monika Bagiw-Stuczyńska, MA, Principal of Primary School No. 162 named after Jan Nowak-Jeziorański in Łódź, and Ewa Witkowska, MA, School Vice-Principal. The presentation entitled: The process of educating people with autism spectrum disorder and special educational needs was presented by the representative of the national partner of the project, Magdalena Worek, MA, Principal of the Maria Grzegorzewska Special Educational and Upbringing Center in Żywiec, together with teachers: Maria Chrobakiewicz-Kupczak, MA, and Lucyna Boryska, MA.

In addition, a valuable contribution to the subject of the conference was the presentation of Dorota Omyła, MA, Principal of the Psychological and Pedagogical Counseling Center in Milówka, entitled: Goals and challenges of the Psychological and Pedagogical Counselling Centre – development and specialist assistance.

Finally, the project coordinator on behalf of UBB – Dagmara Mika, PhD from the International Relations Office – ​​summed up the conference by presenting the key points of the Erasmus+ programme, which is a real support for the lifelong learning process.
