In December 2024, the scientific monograph The Role and Importance of Intervention in Developing Reading Comprehension Skills in a Foreign Language, authored by Elwira Lewandowska and collaborators, was published. This work presents a comprehensive approach to developing reading skills in foreign languages, focusing on the principles and techniques of intervention as well as the teacher's role in implementing them.
One of the key components of the monograph is the description of an innovative intervention program designed for A2 language proficiency. The program is detailed in two textbooks: Development of Foreign Language Reading Comprehension, An Intervention Programme, English A2 and Entwicklung des Leseverstehens in Fremdsprachen, Ein Interventionsprogramm, Deutsch A2. These textbooks were created as part of the IDEREC project, co-funded by the European Commission. They include various techniques for working with texts, such as activities before, during, and after reading, as well as a rich database of tasks and teaching materials.
The monograph not only provides valuable theoretical insights but also offers practical tools that can be immediately applied in teaching. It is a valuable resource and inspiration for teachers of English and German who want to enrich their lessons and effectively support their students in developing reading skills.
As the IDEREC project concludes in June 2025, we warmly invite English and German language teachers to participate in the dissemination event, which will take place in April at the University of Bielsko-Biała. The event is organized in cooperation with Oxford Primary School in Bielsko-Biała and the Technical and Forestry School in Żywiec. So, Dear Teachers, remember to join us to learn more about the project and discover new opportunities in language teaching!
