Vice Consul of the United States Consulate General in Krakow in UBB

On December 5, 2024, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences welcomed Mr. Clark Campbell, Vice Consul of the United States Consulate General in Krakow. The event drew a diverse and enthusiastic audience of students and academics alike, eager to engage with  a speaker of such international distinction.

Proceedings commenced with an address by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ernest Zawada, who extended warm words of welcome on behalf of the university's Authorities. Joining the event were several esteemed members of the faculty administration, including Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Robert Pysz, PhD; the Director of the Institute of Modern Languages, Agnieszka Palion-Musioł, PhD; Deputy Director, Elwira Lewandowska PhD; and the event coordinator, Maria Kaliciak, M.A.

Mr. Campbell’s presentation explored the opportunities available through the Work and Travel programs, designed to open doors for young people eager to acquire both professional and linguistic prowess in the United States. Following his presentation, he engaged in a dialogue with Prof. Zawada, and other guests, about potential avenues for collaboration between the university and the U.S. Consulate. Topics ranged from international academic partnerships to practical strategies for enriching the career prospects of students. The Dean’s Office, in turn, reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to nurturing innovative global relationships that directly benefit the student body.

The program was further enriched by a presentation from representatives of the Camp Leaders organization, who offered an engaging look at work opportunities in the U.S. under the Work and Travel umbrella. The session ended in a lively Q&A segment, at which point students received detailed guidance on navigating the logistics of summer internships in the United States.

The event was well-received, drawing a substantial audience of students from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, who filled the Auditorium Maximum. Faculty members and external guests also contributed to the engaging atmosphere, highlighting the broader appeal of the gathering. It provided a valuable platform for intercultural exchange, fostering connections and sparking ideas for future international collaborations.
